Bio Base Europe is the Europe's first open innovation and education centre for the biobased economy.

Flanders and The Netherlands have joined forces to build state-of-the-art research and training facilities to speed up the economic growth, innovation capacity, and sustainable development of our society.

Bio Base Europe consists of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant and the Bio Base Europe Training Centre.

The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is a flexible and multi-purpose pilot plant for bio-based products and processes.

They develop and scale up biobased products and processes up to production scale, from the kilogram to multi-ton scale.
One-stop-shop: The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant can perform the complete bioprocesses, from biomass raw material to the pure and refined bioproduct to serve companies and research institutes worldwide
Their technologies include biorefining, biomass pretreatment, biocatalysis, fermentation, downstream processing and green chemistry.
They claim to guarantee confidentiality as the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is a fully independent facility.
The Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant is easily accessible in the Port of Ghent (Belgium).
